HELPFUL HINTS: Quick tips to make your daily activities easier ~ 2012-0812

Just arriving home after 7 weeks of traveling, I’m letting photos do the talking this week. Some of these hints I’ve used; others, I’m looking forward to trying out.  Can’t wait to try the dustpan tip out.  Thanks to Sharon for sending these along. Happy Sunday everyone!

Use a clean dustpan to fill  a container that doesn’t fit in a shallow sink.

Put a rubber band around an open paint can to keep extra paint of of the sides of the can.

Use a staple remover to add or remove keys to a key ring.

Put a wooden spoon across a boiling pot to keep it from boiling over.

Use a bread clip to fix a flip flop with a split hole (Come on, it’s me.  You knew there would be a flip flop reference here.)

A smart way to dry shoes in a clothers dryer.

Use your sunglasses or a convex mirror to keep people from sneaking up on you while you work on your computer.

A good way to keep your drinking straw in line.

Use a microfiber cloth to keep the frost off your windshield.

An efficient way to drive a nail (that I always forget).

A clean way to drill a hole that I also always forget.

Try these out and let me know how they work.

  1. Sheila, I ran across your website while searching for former classmates for our 50 year reunion of Shawnee High School Class of 1962 (Louisville, KY). My name was Susie Jackson and I graduated with your sister, Gloria; we had several business classes together (typing, shorthand, etc.). I sent her a letter about the reunion to an address in Huntington Beach, but not sure if that’s current. Could you have her contact me at I love your helpful hints, especially the one about the rubber band on the paint can!! I can’t wait to try it.
