Create/Preserve ~ 2013-0630

“America was capable of creating King but not capable of preserving him.”

Today is a  lazy Sunday as the rain comes down in Crystal City.  I am  working on formatting our current Cousin Book and watching recorded Super Soul Sunday episodes. The quote above was stated by Vietnamese Monk,  Thich Nhat Hanh, upon hearing about the assassination of his friend,  Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

This was such a powerful statement that it stopped my movements as I thought about the truth of it. Our country is so great at creating wonderful, masterful people. However, we are not good at keeping them and honoring the gifts they have for us.  Why?  Why do we create these masterful leaders only to devour them? I do not have the answer. Do you?
