Metaphor for intuition

I use metaphors often to get across ideas to others. This author suggests using metaphors to unleash creativity. From Roger Von Oech, “There is always a connection between the random thing you select and your problem. It is your job to find it and use it.”

  1. Define the problem
  2. Define your key concept
  3. Create a symbolic representation of your key concept
  4. Use sentence completion: This product is like___________.
  5. Choose a random object or action: running a race, downhill skiing, etc.
  6. Reflect and choose
