Last year I lost 50 pounds and I’m proud to say, I’ve kept it off for 7 months. Now the doctor wants me to lose another 20. Here we go again…
I know that I’m going to have to step up the exercises more and to continue to watch the food diet. I like mini goals…and I found some great tools. Active.com is one. I chose Couch to 5k, and I chose virtual runs. This sets up running events for folks but allows you to do them at your own place and time (even though a date is usually set up). I like being in charge of my own schedule.
My first virtual run was Happy Birthday USA sponsored by virtualrun.com, scheduled for July 4th. I had to work on July 4th, so I participated the next day. This is the great thing about these programs. If it were a traditional 5K run, I would have missed it. This way, I did not.
There is another site called moonjoggers.com. It creates monthly events like the 4th of July one. The August event is ET Phone Home 5k and supports the American Diabetes Association. Between these sites, I’ve committed to an event each month. Maybe soon, I’ll try more than a 5k, but for now, this works for me. Will it work enough to help lose the 20 pounds? I don’t know…we’ll find out together.
What about you? Are any of you interested in joining me in the ET Phone Home 5k this month or the Pirate run in September or any of the others? If so, check it out these sites.
