The essence of life itself is persuasion – how well we persuade ourselves, how well we persuade others, and how we are persuaded by those who persuade us.
There are many similarities between manipulation and persuasion. However, manipulation is just one path to persuasion. It is a temporary persuasion, not a lasting agreement. Manipulation is forcing one opinion on two or more. Persuasion creates the opportunity for two people to come together on a mutually beneficial opinion.
Persuasion when done correctly is beautiful, much like watching an orchestrated ballet. Good persuasion is a practiced art. It is not just about selling, it is about gaining support and agreement and creating common ground.
