  • Clean your electric can open by running a damp paper towel through it.
  • Rub a little toothpaste over small mirror or glass scratches, shine the scratch away.
  • Add 3 tablespoons of cider vinegar to your sink full of glassware for shiny results.
  • Remove burned spots from cookware by adding a little baking soda to the spot and just enough water to dampen it. Let it set for a few hours and the burn should lift out.
  • Coffee stains in ceramic cups can be removed by rubbing a little baking soda in them.
  • Remember to clean the dishwasher filter weekly; it will keep your dishes shiny.
  • If your dishwasher is not full, use the extra space to wash some of the dusty, less used dishes to keep everything shiny clean.
  • Shine up dull stainless steel flatware by adding 1 cup of vinegar to warm soapy water and letting them sit for 15 minutes.
  • Mildew in the kitchen caused by high humidity can be solved by airing out your kitchen twice a day with the exhaust fan; opening windows on high humidity day will just add to the problem.
  • To store sharp knives, find a container you like on your countertop, add rice, apply knives, and watch them stay firm and safe.
